CENTRAL NEW Guidelines for Judges It is the belief of the members of this club that
novice and intermediate photographers should be judged at their level of
knowledge and skill. Many of our competitors at the novice and even the
intermediate level are working with point and shoot or simple cameras; few
have even attempted digital or dark room printing. Our experience has been
that fewer and lesser awards are given in novice and intermediate levels.
Honor and merit awards should be given based on the excellence of the
photograph for those of novice or intermediate level, not on how they rank
in comparison with advanced photographers. We would like to see more even
distribution of awards across the levels. Please remember this philosophy
as you judge our competition. Competition

and Awards 9 = Honor Award 8 = Merit Award 7 = Honorable Mention [an award] 6 = better than average, not an award 5 = average Unless one slide
or print emerges as a natural winner in each category, you will be asked to
select a slide or print of the month from the top scoring images. Please note that scores of 9, 8 and 7 are awards.
Once an image has received any award, it cannot be resubmitted in competition. This club does not
discriminate between trade printed and maker made prints or between digital
and traditional photography.
